Located in the Hudson Yards, The Edge is NYC’s public balcony, as described on its website. This brand new tourism attraction was set to open in March, but Covid-19 happened and it had to be pushed until August. Finally, New Yorkers and visitors alike have the opportunity to visit the highest observatory in the Western Hemisphere.
Ubicado en los Hudson Yards, The Edge es el balcón público de la ciudad de Nueva York, como se describe en su sitio web. Esta nueva atracción turística tenía como fecha de apertura marzo, pero Covid-19 sucedió y se inauguró recién este septiembre. Desde entonces, tanto los neoyorquinos como los visitantes tienen la oportunidad de visitar el observatorio al aire libre más alto del hemisferio occidental.
The Hudson Yards Observation Deck is located on the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards. The entrance is located right next to the shopping mall. The developers in charge of this ambitious project are Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group, who are responsible for building NYC’s coolest tourism addition. You may be wondering how is it so cool? Well, it has a large glass floor with a view of 1,100 feet down. It also has a remarkable and unique take on the skyline view thanks to its 7,500 square feet of viewing space, surrounded by a nine-foot-tall glass wall and windowed floor.
A cargo de este ambicioso proyecto estaban Related Companies y Oxford Properties Group, que son responsables de construir la adición turística más cool de NYC. ¿Por qué es tan genial? Bueno, tiene un suelo de cristal con una vista de 1.100 pies de abajo. También tiene una notable y única vista de NYC gracias a sus 7.500 pies cuadrados, rodeado además por una pared de cristal que es inclinada y tiene nueve pies de altura.
A couple of weeks ago, I visited it and I was impressed with not only the great service, how they have integrated protocols that made me feel safe at all times, as well as, the technology and sustainable practices put in place on site. It’s indeed an innovative smart building and The Edge happens to be, literally, the topping on the cake.
Hace un par de semanas, lo visité y me impresionó el gran servicio, los protocolos implementados que me hicieron sentir segura en todo momento, así como, la tecnología y las prácticas sostenibles puestas en marcha. El observatorio de Hudson Yards se encuentra en el piso 100 de 30 Hudson Yards. Este edificio es parte del nuevo “barrio” Hudson Yards, y definitivamente es un edificio innovador e inteligente, y The Edge pasa a ser literalmente la cereza del pastel.
I had to make reservations way in advance, paid $38 per ticket (New Yorkers have a local discount). Once I arrived, I had to be screened and proceed to make the line to the elevator , the place was packed but they ensured you practice social distancing and everyone must wear masks.The elevator journey up was so cool and so fast. Once you arrive, you have to make another line before heading outside, once outside you also have to make a line so you get a shot in every angle, which I thought was clever.
Tuve que hacer reservas por adelantado y pagar $36 por boleto (los neoyorquinos tienen un descuento local), así que si planeas visitar te recomiendo reservar semanas antes. Fui al mediodía, pero recomiendo ir a la puesta de sol. Una vez que llegué, tuve que ser examinada (toma de temperatura), luego hice la línea al ascensor. El lugar estaba lleno, pero se aseguraron de que se practique el distanciamiento social y todo el mundo debe usar máscaras. El viaje en ascensor fue súper chévere y rápido. Una vez que llegas, tienes que hacer otra línea antes de salir al deck. Una vez fuera también tienes que hacer una línea para que tengas opción de tomar fotos en todos los ángulos, lo cual pensé que era inteligente y organizado.
The photo opportunities at this place are countless! The views are mesmerizing, so we took so many pictures. There’s also an outdoor bar, where you can get a bubbly drink and seat by the stairs to continue enjoying the view. What I thought was the coolest but most frightening was the glass floor. I honestly couldn’t step on it, unless I was holding my husband’s hand LOL. I had the same experience in Shanghai’s Pearl Tower and I was also freaked out by the glass floors.
¡Las oportunidades de fotos en este lugar son innumerables! Las vistas son fascinantes, así que tomé muchas fotos. También hay un bar al aire libre, donde se puede tomar una copa de champagne y sentarse en las escaleras para seguir disfrutando de la vista. El highlight de la visita, pero más aterrador, era el piso de cristal. Honestamente no podía pisarlo, a menos que estuviera sosteniendo la mano de mi esposo. Tuve la misma experiencia en la Torre de la Perla de Shanghái y también me asusté por los pisos de cristal.
