30 Things to Stop Doing to YourselfSeptember 19, 2013
Why I love October?October 2, 2013
Wow! Going through my blog today,I realized that a year ago I wrote my very first post!
Writing is my passion and it has always been since I was young. As a mea culpa, I have to admit that sometimes I get caught up with tons of work and my personal life that I don’t get to write as much as I should. However, I’m so grateful for this little space, which I’m so proud to say it’s all mine and I can share with whoever is reading on the other side of the screen.
Peruvian Chica in NYC was born from my desire to put my thoughts and opinions about my experiences in New York City out there. You may already know that I moved here almost 5 years ago and it’s been one heck of a ride ever since. I live and learn each and every single day and I’m happy that I get the chance to share it with you.
When I decided to write my first post I didn’t know if I had to write it in English or Spanish. You know, I’m not an English native speaker, and writing and speaking in English can be a challenge (it used to be tougher during the first year). Yes, at the beginning I hesitated A LOT! I was shy and embarrassed to talk in front of others, and obviously I preferred to write and speak in Spanish because I felt more comfortable doing so. But I knew I had to face my fear and just venture myself in writing this blog in English (I love challenges!). Today I can actually say I’m glad that I write this blog in English, because is a good way to improve my writing and, I also learned to appreciate who I am, a bilingual woman who, today, is proud of the things she has achieved while living in the concrete jungle, with her strong accent and everything (oh yes!).
To not make this post too long, I just want to promise myself that I will keep sharing my adventures on www.pkz.osf.mybluehost.me/peruvianchicainnyc , whether they are recommendations on things to do on your weekend, or narrating my day, or telling you about an event, or simply expressing my feelings (every now and then in Spanish), I will do my best to make this blog a fun, insightful and cool space for everyone who reads it.
You know this blog does not fall under a specific category, it’s miscellaneous! So I’m going to talk about a little bit of everything and anything . All I want is to showcase my experiences while living in New York, and for you to enjoy the ride with me! 😉
Thank you for following my page, for reading my blog and for being so awesome 🙂
