Entrevista: con Ale Hop en los Red Bull Music Academy
May 22, 2013Pisco Sours can help you fight the heat wave!
July 19, 2013It’s been so long since the last time wrote. I haven’t forgotten about my blog, neither about you, it’s just that I’ve been out of the country for almost a month. You may be wondering where I’ve been? Well, I was in my homeland, Peru, for a couple of days, and then headed to the old continent, Europe. My first destination was Venice, Italy, where my cruise ship was departing from. Yes! I went on a cruise! I had the blessing to go on a 7 day cruise with my mother to the Greek islands. Hands down, one of the most fascinating experiences of my life.
It was my first time cruising and I would totally do it again (and again, and again…). I had the chance to visit amazing places and meet wonderful people from all over the world. Each single day was a new adventure, from beginning to end.
The first stop was Dubrovnik, Croatia, where we embarked a journey through the town guided by a handsome taxi driver who took us to the hottest tourist spots of the island. It was interesting to learn about the history of this city and who it still preserves the main town with the same structures as when it was built.
Second stop was Corfu, Greece, where we shared a guided tour with a very nice Canadian young couple, and I’m pretty sure we had the coolest taxi driver from the entire island. He not only took us to amazing places -even advise us to go on a boat ride on a beautiful beach to see the caves- but he also shared with us his life experiences and made us laugh throughout the tour. This island was one of the highlights of my trip because of its amazing beaches!
On the third day, we visited Santorini, Greece, a place I was so looking forward to visit. We took a guided tour to Oia, the most popular village from this island. We did shopping and learned about its history and culture. We took so many pictures and from time to time sang the Mama Mia songs. We even went wine tasting and had lunch with a breathtaking view! The time went by so fast that the tourist bus almost left us, but it was worth running like crazy tourists on the highway just so the bus don’t leave us! I wish I could have gone on a donkey ride but we didn’t have time to do so. Oh, and in case you were wondering, my mom and I sang Mama Mia songs with choreography included while we were here haha!
On the fourth day we visited Athens, a huge city that its history fascinates me since I was a kid. My mom and I went on a guided tour to the Parthenon and then went on our own to the new museum. We enjoyed this city so much because we learned so much about its evolution through the years and the influence of their Gods in its culture, people and history.
On the fifth day we visited Katakolon, where we visited the Olympic Stadium and the museum. Even though almost everything was remains, we still enjoyed the visit to the museum and to keep learning more about the history. Before heading to the ship, we made a stop at a nice beach, where we swam and got tan.
Every day in the ship was wonderful. Every single person that worked there was so attentive and welcoming. The service was top notch and at the end of the trip we became very close to all those people who served us at dinner, at the bars or in the pool area. Being able to meet new friends from different countries like Portugal, Brazil, USA, made this trip even more special. I danced every night, I ate delicious food (especially at dinner), I had a room with an amazing view, and I even worked out while looking at the infinite ocean. What make me feel even more grateful it’s that’s I had the chance to do all this with my mother. She showed me how great of a travel partner she can be!
I will treasure this trip in my memory and heart forever and I recommend everyone who can go on cruise like this, to do it!
After the cruise I went back to Peru and stayed for 2 weeks. You already know how I feel about going back home. Spent time with my family and friends, ate our delicious food, drank our delicious Pisco and couldn’t be happier than ever.
I’m writing this while I wait to board my plane, not going to lie, with teary eyes because is always hard to say goodbye, but feeling renovated, energized and with tons of positive vibes all around me! Going back to NY after 28 days is going to be challenging but, NY is waiting for me and I’m ready for new adventures in the big city 🙂
Yours truly,
